Hanmer Springs to Kaikoura

When paying for our night's stay at the office we were convinced by the lady in the office to buy a Top Ten membership for $49 or so, which is good for two years and also at Big 4 campgrounds in Australia.  We saved by getting a 10% discount on our camping and will save not only on camping, but also for certain activities like the sea kayaking we wanted to do. We strolled around the centre of Hanmer Springs as quite a few people were doing so but found that there was really not much to it. Our next destination was Kaikoura to which we took the slightly longer windy road which was very pretty.  Near Kaikoura is where the epicentre of the big 2016 earthquake was.  Once in Kaikoura we booked sea kayaking for the next morning.  At the campground - another Top Ten - we pitched our tent, did laundry and worked on the blog after which we went for an afternoon stroll to town.  The town is not very big but definitely touristy and it has a bit of a hippy/ backpackers feel to it.  People come to Kaikoura to see the whales in the ocean, as well as dolphins and seals.  As our alarm was set for 7am we went to bed at a reasonable time.
